Become an Educator

Early Learning Educator and kids playing.

Why become an Educator?

  • Family Day Care Educators work from within their own homes providing Education and Care to children 6 weeks to 12 years of age.

  • As a family day care educator you are able to:
    - Choose your own hours of operation.
    - Set your own hourly rates.
    - Depending on the number of hours and days you work, potentially you can earn much more than you would working in a Child care centre.
    - You can take holidays when you choose.

  • Educators may care for up to a maximum of 7 children per day between the ages of 6 weeks and 13 years. With no more than 4 preschool aged children being in care, including the educator’s own children, at any one time.

  • With the assistance of FDC United Educators Scheme educators are supported in setting up their own business or in growing their existing business.

What will you need to join FDC United Educators Scheme?

  • Experience in meeting young children’s needs. A professional, caring personality with a passion of setting up home environments that encourage and stimulate learning.

Testimonials

Stephanie, Registered Educator

“I opened my Montessori Family Day Care back in February 2019 in the Inner West. I organically connected with Rose. Rose has exceeded my expectations - Rose is passionate, committed and knowledgeable. I honestly cannot do this without her. From clearing things up about CCS to organising community initiatives. Rose puts her heart and soul into educators and services. You won’t find anyone as passionate as Rose! I absolutely love the team we have - all the educators are passionate and dedicated. I feel so blessed to be a part of such an amazing community”

Tanya, Registered Educator

“FDC United Educators Scheme has provided me with a confident, trustworthy and supportive environment to work in. I have been encouraged and guided to be the best educator I can be. There is a great balance of trust and independence from the scheme to allow me to run my business based on my own personal and professional philosophy whilst being provided with a sense of belonging to a greater group of educators. This challenges me to take on new ideas and creative ways of offering an education and care service. I have complete trust in the scheme to support me through the good and challenging times, and I have confidence that I will always be treated with respect and positivity.”

Joanne, Registered Educator

“Rosa has been such an amazing support to me since my transition from Home Based care back to FDC in Nov 2019. Rosa facilitated my return with so much support and guidance that the transition was smooth, and in fact I felt a renewed excitement and love for what I do. She has given me encouragement and help to continue with my studies whilst working full time. She is available to help at any time of day or night and will always do her absolute utmost to answer questions and solve problems. Rosa makes you feel valued, supported, important and special. Since returning, I have faced some personal challenges, and like everyone in 2020, the road was tough. Rosa was amazing. I now feel like I have a friend and a mentor as my boss. I highly recommend FDC United Educators Scheme.”

Alanna, Registered Educator

“I started my Family Day Care business in 2010 after finishing an Early Childhood Degree.

I am a mum of three and always loved working with children. This is where I met Rose, who was also a Mum and a Family Day Care Educator; she also lived around the corner from me.

Throughout the years Rose has been my biggest support, my mentor, my inspiration;

I’ve continually watched Rose grow and advocate for educators and educators rights.

In 2017 Rose opened her own scheme “United Educators Scheme” and I instantly knew that I wanted to join the team. Together with a team of educators Rose has created a strong, safe, supported network for educators and families, where we all feel like we belong, we are heard and therefore, we are all thriving.”
